National Science Day

The Department of Physics, Chemistry, and NSS at IIT Tirupati successfully organized the National Science Day celebrations on February 28, 2025. The event featured engaging experimental demonstrations, an interactive campus tour, and inspiring popular science talks. About 250 school students from grades 8-12th participated in the event.

The day commenced with experimental demonstration sessions, where participants witnessed exciting scientific experiments in action related to the fundamentals of Physics and Chemistry particularly related to electric charges, potentials, vacuum technology, polarization of light and many more. A guided campus tour, led by NSS volunteers, provided attendees with insights into IIT Tirupati’s academic and research facilities. The afternoon session featured popular science talks at LHC 211, where distinguished speakers—Prof. A. Datta (IIT Bombay) and Prof. V. Khaire (IIT Tirupati)—delivered thought-provoking lectures on Curiosity is the mother of invention and the History of the Universe respectively. Their discussions captivated the audience, highlighting the significance of scientific curiosity and discovery. The event concluded with closing remarks, followed by a group photo and informal interactions over snacks.
